Transition of Literacy Campaign to a Community Literacy Coalition

Between October 2009 and January 2010 literacy service providers, elected officials, employers, educators, representatives from faith-based communities, and funders met to learn how other literacy coalitions around the United States are structured and to provide input on the structure and roles of a future Monterey County literacy coalition. With the community’s comments in mind, the Literacy Campaign’s Steering Committee recommended an organizational structure to the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors in February 2010. Details on the transition will be shared here as they become available.

The Community Foundation for Monterey County manages a Literacy Field of Interest Fund which will make grants in support of adult literacy programs.
